How a sewing machine makes a stitch

Written By: kathybagioni

In my serger classes I try to explain to my students how a sewing machine makes a stitch and how sergers make a stitch.   This link to a graphic animation of the sewing machine process is so much better than my futile attempts.   (Though mine might be more amusing if seen on a YouTube video with the sound turned off.  LOL)  With many thanks to American Quilter and The Quilt Life.

How cool!

Do you know what really happens when you step on the foot pedal of your sewing machine? Until just the other day, I did not.

Then someone sent me a link to this great little animation. If you’re not so mechanically inclined, and you’ve ever wondered about how a sewing machine sews, you’d probably like watch this….Jan Magee, The Quilt Life
